Markiplier: 360 video let's play Minecraft part 1

There is a new feature on YouTube that you can do 360 videos and the viewer can use the 360 feature to see the whole of the area. So a YouTuber I watch called Markiplier did a video using that feature which to me has it own artistic way to a YouTube video.

Screen shot of the beginning of the video
Screen shot of the game itself
Well the video start just like a normal Markipiler gaming, video but its Minecraft so there were the first alarm bells go off because no one really plays Minecraft that much anymore. However, I just thought that Mark was just making a tester video for the 360. So by using the 360 degree new features I was able to look around at want was happening all around Marks recording offices and it just look some normal.

Screen shot of my turning the 360

Screen shot of my turning the 360 to see mark
But then the screen started to go blurry and I thought something was happening to my computer which is really cool how they was about to edit that in with the 360 features to make you as the audience very immersed into the video. Also, it very interesting they way they were able to make it look so realistically that I actually thought it was my computer.

Screen shot of the part it started going blurry
And then the screen goes blue and it looks like the computer was shutting down and glitching which they have edited in to make it look like that because what happens next is what they were leading up to.

After that, just like my other blog post on 'A Date With Markipiler' Mark playing Darkipiler was standing in the background. Before this the sound started messing up and going up and down in volume as Darkipiler started moving closer and closer to the camera which is you.

As Darkipiler get closer he acts like he is trying to help you with the problems with the computer, but that's all the gamer because he really just wants to destroy you and the whole world. After that the screen goes black like he has taken you over.

It's really interesting how Mark is bringing back Darkipiler in a new and interesting way which show the real artistic way that you can use editing in the videos on YouTube. I really love the way these YouTubers are using the platform to create bigger and better, more creative videos and I really feel that Markipiler is really working with that.

My Outside piece: Art in the Public Realm

So I took my piece that I made around the beginning of the year which was also in my performance video piece that I made and placed it outside.

Photo I took of my piece inside the studio
I chose to do this while I was looking at the plinth piece and I have always wanted to have a piece outside and because my piece already has mud on it, it will become apart of the place around it and maybe plants will grow through or other it. This is a real new way for my so work and I never really thought of it until I really look up different ways public art could be shown so I might also do some land art which is also a sort of public art. I hope this works out and if it does it will become a completely different piece, we just have to wait and see.

Overall, I feel that my piece might become something very interesting through it being out in the Public Realm.

'A Date With Markiplier'

When people that normally don't watch YouTube get asked what do you think of a Gaming YouTube, they would normally think that they just simply play games and they're not a lot which goes into making the video, However, with Markiplier a YouTuber but not just simply a gaming YouTube he has created little skites and funny videos like his 12 second video 'Boat Dog' where his pet dog is just on a lilo and his shouting Boar dog over and over again.

Screen shot of Boat Dog

But on the 14th of February Markiplier and the team of people which help him with everything made these streams of video which lead on to each other called 'A Date With Markiplier' were they have created a leading narrative, clicker game where you start with the first video and the different choices you chose (left or Right) leads you to the next to the next.

Screen shot of A Date With Markiplier
The first thing that you see in the video is the simple dating scenario, but a bit more sped up which links to the type of video editing style that mark has sometimes. But at the end of the restaurant part of the date it's time to pay and that's where the first problem comes, Mark has forgotten the money and you have the choice to pay or not.

Screen shot of the part in the video
From this point the decision is up to the viewer and only the view and this is where the all video can change. If you pay you end up following the narrative of a date to see a film. Which show a their own style of a play in a funny style which these lot have that adds another level to these videos.

Screen shot of the film part

From here, there many different parts to talk about, but when you chose 'Horror' you get introduce to a long time character of Markiplier, Darkiplier and the scene of this is very interesting to me because the screen (where you are the video, camera) the chair and table in front of you starts warping and Markiplier starts changing into Darkiplier which is very interesting through the way they edited is so welly done that it moves seamlessly through each other to create these very trippy, colourful, dark looking scene which to me show the artist way that some YouTubers are using the platform of YouTube to create videos which are very artistically and interesting.

Screen shot of the chair warping

Through the editing they have used a lot of different interesting effects and colours which black and white which I found a very interesting style to use within editing to make a style of work that I would love to see again. The audio even changes into a deeper which changes and contrasted with the rest of the videos before that through the way it was so light hearted.

Within the platform Mark has been about to take his character and style from his gaming videos and create a piece of videos which is in a clicker base adventure with many different themes and the little kinks for the fans like me of Mark will noises and found funny.  I really feel from watching videos on YouTube like this make me feel that YouTube is not just from stupid little videos and there are some videos which takes a lot of work and you can see through these videos. I do really recommend watching these videos and going through all 10 different endings, to see all the different funny and weird endings. There are so many different parts of these videos that I can just talk about but it makes more sense of it all I would really go and see it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyU_1JD2wuA&t=5s)

Small Ceramic Exhibition

At the beginning of March, the group and I which did Ceramic put on a small ceramic exhibition within this small room. We did this small exhibition to show off our work and the process that we all when through together.

We came out with the idea to lay out our work going around the wall and in the middle would be the work that we collaborate together to create and the other piece that other people made a then left the karmic lessons. We wanted to work with different levels within the exhibition to make the sure that our exhibition is not just on one level which would make it look a bit boring. So we brought in different sized pillars to put some of our work on top so the work was higher and we made shelving for some of our smaller work to hang. We lay out a group piece on the floor for a different perspective and we also used some of the different photos we took of the process around the walls.

The group piece we made (photo taken by me)

This was a very interesting process for me to collaborate with the rest of us which did ceramics to show our work and it's very interesting to learn different ways of showing the work by talking with the group of us to work out how our work would look the best.

Overall, this was a very interesting process and I really feel that I want to be apart of making the next exhibition we do as a year.

Event Day 2017 :Silver Linings + Open Studio

On Thursday the 16th of February within the Atrium of the Grove Building there was a whole day full with different types of art, Photography, Sculptures, performances, music, interactive art and games and films. I was a part of an element of the day with a clay, painting performance, but I also took part of a lot of different things and the day was every eventful. Also on the same day we as First Years in Fine Art had our own Open Studio where people could come and see our work within the studio itself.
Photo I took of the leaflet even out that day
The leaflet was a very interesting part of the Events day through the way the people from Darko made them all through screen printed which to me is a unique way to make a leaflet because I haven't really see it before. Also, it was designed by a 2nd year student called Laura Cowley and I through the layout was very useful and nice to see. Also, it was a kind of small, big deal to me that I had my name and what I was doing that day on the leaflet because I have never really had that really through out me doing art within different schools.

Image of the part of the leaflet with my name one

Event day really helps me to understand how to play a day and how to work well with other people to come up with a theme for our open studio so it was more help full for the rest of the students to create or show previous work that we have been working one, so we came up with a quite broad theme such as Existence. This was the first time in Uni being a part of a committee for both the Events Day (but that was very small) and the Open Studio, it was a quite new experience to work on a committee, it wasn't a bit plan to come up but we come up with making a poll on our Fine Art group on Facebook with all the names that we come up together and let everyone else chose the name they wanted.

From working on a committee to plan the Open Studio, I feel that it's a thing that I don't mind doing and if I have to work on a committee again, I will like too.

After the morning of the day being in the Open Studio, I then went down the atrium where Events day was happening and I took apart of Alex Morillon's Slipper Petanque which was a very funny and interesting experience it was the first every time I have ever played that and that's because he create which show how an interesting day like Events Day can make people come up with very unique ideas and games. This game was very fun, you just had to throw some rolled socks first and then you had to flick the slippers from both feet and how every gets the closest to the socks wins. Oh, and I win!

Image I took of the Slippers from the game I played

Another that I then took part of Darko, which was right next to the Slipper Petanque and this time the theme was Blank, this was only because they forgot to place the name on the leaflets, so it became Blank. Another new thing that Events Day did was because it was open to the public there were people that just in the arts of Uni apart of the zine this time, which to me made it even more interesting talking to other people not only from the Uni. So I made a page on the day and I know I have the zine that come out a week later with my work in. Like I said before about Darko is that I really like the fact that they make everyone a part of something as simple as a zine and see everyone's different interpretations of Blank.

Then later on in the day it was my performance where I created one of my clay, fabric paints live within the atrium. This was the first every time I have ever done a performance where I am doing it live and there are people watching if they want around me. I feel that It was a very eye opening experience through the way I have learnt that I should make sure I get a earlier time if I do do something like this again because I feel that there wasn't that mainly people around and I felt as if I am going to take time to thing up a performance like that I would like there to be more people to see it but this was a very important
 learning curve for me.

I also had a mud trail from my performance to the open studio to connect both together and I thought is is my first time being a part of something a big as Events day so I thought to make something big about it within my own work.

Then after I finished my performance I saw another performance from Michelle which make up from mainly Suseel but with help from Adam, Sal, Lona and a little bit from me. Where Michelle was dressed up as a plant humanoid, which is based on her own work and she worked around the atrium looking weird out of the modern world. This was very interesting to help in the process of make up and it was a very funny and great experience to work together with my friends to make this. It was a beautiful performance and the make looked amazing. This performance was also live streamed to the big screen in the atrium for people to see as well.

Finally, there was a big performance with the audience that I took apart of where we created a big painting inspired by music and sing that Holly Gardner put all together. This was a first experience for me, making something so big together with other people, which has shown me that it would be quite interesting to do something this is in the future, but with my style of work by collaborating with other people to create something much bigger. This piece becomes very a part of the process of it by layer and layer the at itself change to become something much else and I might that that element and use it within my own practices.

Overall, I feel that Events Day was a very eye opening and enjoyable day where I experience a lot of different things and I hope to take part of it again next year.
