I AM A MAGAZINE project

From Monday the 9th to Friday 13th of January I was a part of I AM A MAGAZINE project, where I was placed in a group of students which come from the different creative subject. From there me and my group was given a box full with different magazine from different times throughout history. We were tasked to look through these magazines and come up with a concept of an idea where we collaborative to create a bigger piece of work basted on magazines.

My group came up with an idea which is like a poetic corps where each person within the group made a piece of artwork inspired by a magazine that they saw in the box and from there we pasted on the piece of work to each other to create a new piece of work and so on.

This made for a very interesting experience through the way, it was a quite new experience for me to collaborate with other student from other subject which I have never really done before, so coming up with ideas was quite interesting through the way people brought their own experiences from their subjects within the ideas which made for an eye opening experience. Because it was quite hard to come up with a finalised idea where there is so many people is different ideas in one group, but it helped my team learning skills through the way I took control over the group to make sure people were given was going to the right places, to get the right equipment and materials for the people in the group make their work.

This was my first time handling money for a project and it was very interesting and eye opening to show me how difficult it can be to control and how I feel that I am able to be up for that challenge and I felt by the end of the project I was quite good at it. Also, I have found out that it can help a lot working through a layout idea together, by drawing it out because we came up with an idea to make like a 3D magazine where our work was inside the display board which was the outside, cover of the magazine and as you walk into the display board you are opening our magazine.

Another element of this experience which really made me think it was interesting through the way my group came up with the idea to create a poetic corpus, I was able to see the many different interpretations of my simple idea of using clay and then abstract photography and fashion came out of it. This is an element of this experience that I didn't think, would open my eyes to the fact of the different interpretations of the same basic idea would have such different outcomes based on the subjects that the students are surrounded with.

Overall, I feel and have found out through the I AM A MAGAZINE week that I am good at taking control over a small group with coming up with an idea and controlling how that idea is portrayed as an outcome. Also, as the overall experiences I thought working we other people from different subjects has opened me up to bigger and other ideas.
